World Cup in Willingen – Eva Pinkelnig Absent from the Largest Large Hill

At the World Cup in Willingen, the ski jumpers – fresh off their trip to Japan – are battling on the Mühlenkopfschanze, the circuit’s largest large hill. The hill record, set last year at 155.5 meters by Johann Andre Forfang, stands as a benchmark for the event. The competition starts on Friday with a mixed team event, though Eva Pinkelnig is notably absent as she had already agreed with her coaching team to forgo the competition in Willingen.

Pinkelnig will return at the next overseas stop in Lake Placid, USA, where she will also take a recovery break. Additionally, Sara Marita Kramer is still recovering from the aftereffects of a shingles infection and will also miss the event. On the women’s side, the team now features Lisa Eder, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, Julia Mühlbacher, Chiara Kreuzer, and Hannah Wiegele.

For the men, Manuel Fettner is moving back to the Continental Cup while Markus Müller is once again included in the squad. Stephan Embacher and, for the women, Meghann Wadsak are preparing for the Junior World Championships in Lake Placid, scheduled from February 11 to 16. The mixed team competition begins on Friday at 16:10, followed by the women’s individual event at 12:00 on Saturday, with the men’s individual competitions taking place on Saturday and Sunday at 16:00.
