"What Luck I Have!" : Joséphine Pagnier Soars to Her First World Cup Victory
Joséphine Pagnier (21 years) clinched her first World Cup victory on Sunday, competing from the large hill in Lillehammer. This accomplishment marks a rare feat for a French athlete and is a source of immense pride.
Until Sunday, the only two French women to have won a World Cup ski jumping event were Nicolas Dessum (Sapporo, 1995) and Coline Mattel (Sochi, 2012, and Sapporo, 2013). However, on the hill in Lillehammer, Joséphine Pagnier outperformed all competitors, achieving her maiden victory on the circuit, just a day after finishing second in the small hill event.
This victory not only highlights her individual talent but also represents a pivotal moment for women's ski jumping in France, as it continues to grow in visibility and competitiveness on the international stage.
