Ski Jumping in Willingen

Johann Andre Forfang proved that he is in excellent form by winning both training sessions ahead of the World Cup event in Willingen. Unfortunately, during the second training series, neither Paweł Wąsek nor Aleksander Zniszczoł managed to produce good jumps, and both ended up in distant positions.

After the competition in Oberstdorf, where Paweł Wąsek had just missed a World Cup podium finish, the ski jumpers moved to Willingen. A mixed team competition was scheduled for Friday, but first the training sessions took place.

In the first training session, record-breaker Johann Andre Forfang came out on top, while among the Poles, Aleksander Zniszczoł finished in 15th place and Paweł Wąsek placed two spots lower.

Weak Jumps by Wąsek and Zniszczoł

The second training session brought a complete reshuffle within the Polish team. The top performers from the first series, Zniszczoł and Wąsek, ended up performing the worst this time. Wąsek jumped 125 meters and finished in only 39th place, while his teammate managed just 119.5 meters, which placed him 40th.

This time, the best performance among the Polish team came from Piotr Żyła, although his 131.5-meter jump was still not enough to reach the top ranks. Dawid Kubacki, at 31 years old, jumped 128 meters and placed 31st, and Jakub Wolny showed a significant improvement with a 124-meter jump, finishing in 37th place.

As in the first training session, Johann Andre Forfang was the standout performer overall. The Willingen hill clearly suits the Norwegian, who won the World Cup event there last year with a record jump of 155.5 meters.

Other notable names in the second training session included Daniel Tschofenig and Anze Lanisek, who also finished among the leaders.
