Wind Chaos! German Winning Streak Continues
Andreas Wellinger, a two-time Olympic champion, won in Kuusamo, Finland after only one round, ahead of Austrian Stefan Kraft and Oberstdorf's Karl Geiger.
Wellinger has maintained the strong start of the German ski jumpers with his first victory of the season. He triumphed under challenging conditions in Kuusamo, taking the lead with a jump of 146.5m. The second round was canceled due to increasing winds after 15 competitors had jumped.
Wellinger expressed his excitement about the win, stating, "It was great. It was a tough competition, also for the jury. When it counted for me, I was there." This victory marks his first since February's triumph in Willingen and is the eighth of his career.
The success of the German ski jumpers continued, with three victories in the first four competitions, a feat not seen for 24 years since Martin Schmitt's dominance. Geiger's performance resulted in a double podium for Germany, which he noted was very satisfying.
Pius Paschke had his podium streak broken with a seventh-place finish after winning the previous day, but he successfully defended his yellow leader's jersey in the overall World Cup rankings.
