Ski jumping enthusiasts in Poland can breathe a sigh of relief following an update on Kamil Stoch's health from Alexander Stoeckl, conveyed through the Polish Ski Association (PZN). According to the latest reports, the condition of the 37-year-old athlete is not as serious as initially feared.
Stoch recently underwent an MRI, with initial reports suggesting he might need to take a break from intense training for about two weeks. However, his overall situation has been described as stable and manageable. In a conversation, PZN President Adam Małysz indicated that recent training sessions did not result in significant setbacks.
On September 24, the Polish Ski Association confirmed the diagnosis: "Fortunately, Kamil Stoch's injury is not very serious. The MRI revealed a minor issue—a small partial tear of the collateral ligament in his right knee." They further added, "Aside from this, the knee is in good shape. Kamil will begin rehabilitation once the swelling decreases, with recovery expected to take around four weeks. We wish him the best and hope for a swift return to form," commented Alexander Stoeckl, the director of ski jumping and Nordic combined.
The worry surrounding Stoch's injury stems from a fall during a training session on September 21. After landing, he experienced a sharp pain in his knee, raising concerns over potential major damage. Official statements underscored the importance of further diagnostics.
These updates should undoubtedly provide comfort to fans anxious about Stoch's ability to compete in the upcoming events.
