Ski jumper Thea Minyan Bjørseth sustained injuries to her left knee and elbow after a severe fall in the normal hill event at Ljubno, Slovenia, on Saturday. Bjørseth had delivered an impressive first jump by setting a hill record at 97 meters; however, during her second jump she landed poorly at 94.5 meters when her ski caught, causing her to fall badly and become unable to leave the hill on her own.

Medical personnel provided on-site treatment for several minutes before she was carried off on a stretcher. According to national team coach Christian Meyer, Bjørseth experienced pain in her left elbow and knee, and plans were underway to transport her to Ljubljana for x-rays before returning to Norway for further examinations.

In related news from the event, Norwegian competitor Nika Prevc won the round with solid jumps of 90.5 and 95 meters, while German Selina Freitag followed. Additionally, competitors Anna Odine Strøm and Heidi Dyhre Traaserud, who had strong performances in the first round, were disqualified for jumping with unapproved dress, affecting their overall placements.

This incident highlights the risks involved in ski jumping at the highest competitive levels and the immediate medical attention and protocol followed when accidents occur during international events.
