Unexpected Problems for Top Ski Jumper Just Before the World Championships!

On the final stretch before the World Championships in Trondheim, title-winning ski jumper Stefan Kraft is having a bout of bad luck. After his return from Sapporo, where he was still troubled by recurring back pain, Kraft admitted in an interview with Austrian journalists, "For two, three days, I practically couldn’t move." He noted that past issues with his lower back had resurfaced, though two training sessions at Bergisel later left him reassured about his recovery.

However, things took an unexpected turn over the weekend. During breakfast on Saturday, a neighbor’s cat was allowed into his home. Kraft began to play and pet the cat, which seemed to enjoy the attention—until it suddenly attacked and injured his hand. As a result, he had to receive a tetanus and diphtheria vaccine and was prescribed antibiotics. "Michael Hayboeck always said that something or someone has to irritate me for me to jump well," he joked, lightening the mood despite the setback.

Although the 31-year-old is not currently in top form, his experience and a record of 13 World Championship medals, including five individual wins, mean that he will still be a competitor to watch in Trondheim.
