The ski jumping event in Willingen delivered a surprising outcome. The Norwegian team won the mixed team competition, demonstrating excellent form throughout the event. Unfortunately for the Polish team, their performance fell well below expectations, and they were knocked out of contention after the first round.

Polish jumper Paweł Wąsek, usually one of the leading figures in the national team, could not deliver his best performance. Other Polish competitors were similarly affected: for instance, Pole Bełtowska managed only 95.5 meters to secure a disappointing ninth place in the opening round, while Anna Twardosz failed to replicate her previous attempts, managing just 98 meters. The Polish team’s overall score suffered, and they missed the chance to advance to the second series by a margin of nearly 20 points behind the eighth-placed French team.

The second round of the competition saw the Norwegians consolidating their lead, largely thanks to strong performances by Johann Andre Forfang and Eirin Maria Kvandal. In contrast, the Polish effort was marred not only by poor jumps but also by a controversial decision. In one instance, after a jump by Aleksander Zniszczoł—who managed a strong 127.5 meters—the judges disqualified 25-year-old Tim Zajec by not including his jump in the team’s score. This decision, including an unexplained adjustment of the jump bar both before and after Zniszczoł’s attempt, was widely criticized by commentators and fans alike.

The article underscores the unpredictability of the event and the difficulties encountered by the Polish team. Although hopes were high due to promising training sessions, the competition did not live up to the expectations, leaving the Polish fans and athletes disappointed with the outcome.
