Two Scary Scenes - Prevc Holds Ski Firm Mid-Flight, Bande Knocks Sundal Away

Austria's ski jumpers sensationally started the new World Cup season with placements 2 through 5. However, beyond the successes of the ÖSV team, there were two alarming incidents in Lillehammer.

One dangerous and rather unprecedented situation occurred during qualification when Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal was unexpectedly pushed by the movable start apparatus while preparing to jump.

"It could have ended badly," Sundal remarked after landing at 132 meters, understandably expressing frustration towards the event organizers. "I couldn't control the bindings anymore. Hörl had easily won the qualification with a distance of 141 meters."

Domen Prevc also experienced a moment of peril during his jump when he unexpectedly found his right ski in his hand. Despite the ski not releasing from the binding plate, leading to an inevitable fall, he managed to react quickly to avoid serious injury.
