Tschofenig baff – ÖSV-Adler miss at Vikersund podium

Andreas Wellinger celebrated his ninth victory in the Ski Flying World Cup in Vikersund, outshining his competitors. The best Austrian performer was Stefan Kraft, who secured sixth place, followed by Jan Hörl in eighth. Unfortunately, Manuel Fettner and Daniel Tschofenig placed twelfth and fourteenth respectively, leaving them frustrated with their performances in the high-stakes competition.

Stefan Kraft managed to achieve a remarkable leap of 220 meters in the second round, but expressed disappointment over his first flight, which did not meet his expectations. He reflected in an ORF interview that while the second jump was satisfactory, the first regrettably fell short.

Wellinger, now leading the Raw-Air standings, edged ahead of Japanese skier Ryoyu Kobayashi, who finished fourth.

Fettner and Tschofenig struggled with their flights, with Fettner admitting he couldn’t balance the wind conditions effectively. Tschofenig echoed those sentiments, feeling that while his jumps felt decent, the results did not reflect that.

The competition continues with another Ski Flying World Cup event scheduled for Sunday in Vikersund, after which the athletes will compete in Lahti and subsequently head to the final World Cup event in Planica the following week.
