During a press conference, Thomas Thurnbichler stated, "All individuals involved in this cheating should be removed from the sports world. Such practices are unacceptable." This strong statement follows a significant cheating scandal involving the Norwegian team at the World Championships in Trondheim, where team members were found to have altered their suits to enhance their performance. This led to disqualifications and the revocation of a medal from Marius Lindvik.

Thurnbichler explained that they had suspected manipulation for some time. "On the night before the competition, we received a video that shocked us. We quickly contacted other teams to discuss filing a protest, which we ultimately did alongside Austria and Slovenia."

When asked if the Norwegian cheating could be compared to doping, Thurnbichler aggressively affirmed, "Absolutely. There is no difference between blood transfusion to run 30 seconds faster and manipulating your suit to jump 5 meters further. None! All involved should face the consequences and the situation needs to be clarified."
