Tragedy for Olympic Champion: Ski Jumping Season Ends Before It Even Started

The ski jumping season has not even fully begun, but for Daniel Huber, it is already over! The Austrian jumper will need to undergo surgery, which will exclude him from competing in the remaining contests. This injury is a result of damage to his cartilage and collateral ligament, sustained during training in Lillehammer.

Daniel Huber expressed his hopes that the injury isn't too serious and that he will soon be back with his teammates after rehabilitation. He revealed his concerns during a statement made after it was announced he would miss Lillehammer to undergo detailed examinations in Austria.

Unfortunately, it turned out the injury is severe. Huber has damaged his cartilage and collateral ligament, which means he must undergo surgery, and this will prevent him from jumping this season. This is a true tragedy for the Austrian, especially considering his successful last season, where he finished 15th overall in the World Cup classification and secured the Small Crystal Globe. He shared this distressing news on his Instagram account.

"Sadly, this is not the news I wanted to share, but I am already looking forward with motivation. I am very happy to have such a team supporting me, and I wish everyone a healthy and successful season," he wrote in a statement.

In 2022, Huber and his teammates became Olympic team champions. He has also twice claimed the world team championship silver. Last season, he successfully competed for the Small Crystal Globe, won the Planica 7 tournament, and placed third in Raw Air.
