Change in the Ski Jumping Squad: Thomas Thurnbichler Will Miss Competitions

Thomas Thurnbichler will not fly with the Polish national team to Sapporo, as revealed by Eurosport journalist Kacper Merk. In Japan, the team will be led by Wojciech Topór, repeating the situation from the previous year. The decision follows the results from the Saturday competition in Willingen where the Polish team performed well – four Polish jumpers advanced to the second series, with the top of these being Dawid Kubacki who placed 14th, although Aleksander Zniszczoł managed only 122 meters in the first series.
After the competition, Thomas Thurnbichler commented on the situation. In a statement covered by Eurosporst, it was mentioned that the training arrangements before the Sapporo events will include extra sessions in Lake Placid, ensuring ample preparation even without competing in Japan.
The contests in Sapporo are scheduled for February 15 and 16, while the team will first compete in Lake Placid on February 8 before heading to Asia. The substitution reflects a continued strategy of prioritizing training and preparation over immediate competition starts.
