Park City Athletes Selected for U.S. Nordic Ski Jumping Team

PARK CITY, Utah — U.S. Ski & Snowboard made headlines on Tuesday as they officially named the 17 athletes chosen for the 2024-25 U.S. Ski Jumping Team. Among the selected are three talented athletes from Park City: Casey Larson, Erik Belshaw, and Tate Frantz, who will represent the men’s A Team.

Two-time Olympian Larson is set to make his competitive return in October at U.S. Nationals after recovering from a shoulder injury suffered last summer. In an impressive season last year, Erik Belshaw earned a silver medal at the Junior World Championship, marking a historic achievement as the first U.S. male ski jumper to medal at this prestigious event. Additionally, Tate Frantz, who had a breakout performance last season, moved up from the D Team thanks to his top 20 finish at the Ski Flying World Championships in Kulm, Austria.

On the women's side, Annika Belshaw and Paige Jones lead the B Team. Annika had a standout performance last season, achieving over ten top-30 finishes in World Cup competitions, while Paige secured an impressive fourth place at the Intercontinental event in Lillehammer, Norway, last December.

Coach's Insights

Excitement is building for the upcoming season. U.S. Ski Jumping Sport Director Anders Johnson expressed his enthusiasm: "I am really excited about the upcoming season. The team has put in a lot of work during the offseason, and their growth has been incredible. They’re focused, motivated, and ready to compete at a high level. I believe we’re just scratching the surface of what they can achieve. If we maintain this momentum, we’re poised for a strong year ahead. The athletes are eager to get out there and prove themselves."

The 2024-25 FIS World Cup season for both men and women is set to kick off on November 22, 2024, in Lillehammer, Norway, on the large hill. The excitement continues as the World Cup returns to the U.S. with an event in Lake Placid, New York, scheduled for February 6-8, 2025. This will mark a historic moment as it's the first time U.S. women will compete in a World Cup event on home soil. Furthermore, the World Championships are slated to take place in Trondheim, Norway, from February 27 to March 8, 2025.
