This is Why Thomas Thurnbichler Is Skipping the Event – Key Remarks About Kamil Stoch
Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy Onet on February 02, 2025
Thomas Thurnbichler explained in an interview with Sport.pl that his ongoing struggle with jet lag—sometimes lasting over a week—forces him to avoid long journeys. As a result, he has opted out of participating in the upcoming World Cup event in Japan, held in Sapporo. The Austrian coach recently became a father, which further reinforces his decision to skip the event.
Thurnbichler mentioned that he will be in the United States with the team during the competitions at Lake Placid. In a subsequent discussion concerning the future of Kamil Stoch, Thurnbichler stated that the Polish legend will not be part of the U.S. team lineup, having been left out of the selection. Stoch will instead train for a few days in Zakopane before rejoining the team for the Sapporo contest. In Japan, the role of selector will be handled by Wojciech Topór, who currently coaches the B national team.
Additionally, the article notes that the recent competitions in Willingen concluded with mixed results for the Polish team. The best result came from Paweł Wąsek, who finished 17th, while Daniel Tschofenig emerged victorious in that contest.
