Slovenian ski jumpers have expressed their outrage towards FIS and the statements published on platform X by journalist Jakub Balcerski. The controversy centers on what they claim are unjust decisions, with legal steps being planned against the federation. The catalyst for the dispute was the disqualification of Timi Zajc on Friday, which only intensified the anger among the Slovenian team. The origins of the conflict are dated back to competitions in Oberstdorf.

In Oberstdorf last weekend, the Slovenian team enjoyed significant success despite mixed results; however, coach Robert Hrgota was not fully satisfied because of two disqualifications – those of Anze Laniska and Timi Zajc. In an interview with Sport.pl, Laniska revealed that he had been measured in a manner not outlined in the rules.

Matters worsened after the Friday competitions in Willingen, where the events reached a boiling point. In the first round, Timi Zajc was disqualified for wearing an illegal suit, though he passed subsequent control in the same outfit during his second jump. Coach Hrgota later had a heated discussion with Sandro Pertile, as recounted by Balcerski on X, which was also accompanied by an official statement issued by the Slovenian ski federation.

The statement reads:

"In the past two weeks, many Slovenian ski jumpers have been disqualified in what we believe are unfair decisions. Yesterday, the Slovenian Ski Association officially warned the World Cup director that the recent equipment control measures are raising doubts about the clarity and fairness of the rules. Today’s disqualification of Timi Zajc only reinforces our feeling that these controls are not based on established principles, but rather on arbitrary guidelines.

The Slovenian jumpers in Willingen need peace and focus above all to perform at their best. At the same time, our federation is actively collecting all the necessary recordings and data to present to the higher authorities.

We will issue an official response next week once the further legal and procedural steps have been taken."
