Swiss skier Simon Ammann opens up: "It became too much for me"

Swiss ski jumper Simon Ammann has opened up about having a tough season. He was demoted to the Continental Cup at times and found that his studies took a significant toll on his time. "It was really hard. Everything became too much, I felt tired," the 43-year-old stated.
Balancing a 27-year skiing career with his business studies, he found the pressure increasingly difficult. "Starting directly into the study phase was pushing my limits. I belong to the older generation and can’t pull as many all-nighters as the younger ones anymore," he recalled.
For the upcoming semesters, Ammann plans to reduce his coursework and said, "I need a little breathing space to get through this time in a healthy way." He is determined to not close the chapter on his ski jumping career and looks forward to his 28th season positively. "The last few weeks I was able to use optimally to correct some mistakes from the past." The World Cup season will kick off with ski jumping in Lillehammer next weekend.
