Piotr Żyła Shares Positive Surgery Update and Future Goals
Piotr Żyła is on the road to recovery following successful knee surgery. The 37-year-old ski jumper recently announced that while he won't participate in the upcoming Summer Grand Prix events in Wisła, he is eyeing a return for the Polish Championships scheduled for October.

"I could potentially return for the LGP competitions in Hinzenbach, but I plan to take it slow," he stated, underscoring the importance of a cautious approach during his recovery.

Žyła had been sidelined from training and competition since the surgery, and although he is not yet back to full fitness, there is optimism surrounding his progress. The Polish Ski Association has shared updates directly from the athlete, reassured fans with his statement:

"The surgery was successful. I can’t wait to get back on the jumps. My goal is to compete in the Polish Championships in October and then we’re going full speed in the winter!"

Meanwhile, this weekend, the following Polish athletes will compete in front of the home crowd in Wisła: Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Jakub Wolny, Paweł Wąsek, Kacper Juroszek, Maciej Kot, and Adam Niżnik.

Summer Grand Prix Calendar

Originally, the events for both men's and women's ski jumping in Wisła were slated for August 17-18, with qualifications on August 16. However, heavy rainfall led to a landslide on the slope, necessitating a change in the schedule.

This year’s Grand Prix features a total of 10 events. The first two took place in Courchevel in August, followed by the upcoming competitions in Poland on September 14-15. Next, the series will move to Romania on September 21-22, with another round in Austria a week later, culminating in the finals on October 5-6 in Klingenthal, Germany, which will include a mixed format competition.
