Sundal best Norwegian in Titisee-Neustadt – World Cup leader Paschke victorious again
The Norwegian ski jumpers are still longing for their first individual podium finish of the season. Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal finished in seventh place as Pius Paschke won the large hill competition in Titisee-Neustadt.
Sundal was in sixth place before the final round, 10.6 points behind the World Cup leader Paschke. The 23-year-old Norwegian landed at 131 meters in his second jump.
World Cup leader Paschke won his fourth individual competition of the World Cup season. Additionally, Halvor Egner Granerud was well placed after the first round but fell significantly on the results list in the final round.
Slovenian Domen Prevc had a misfortune, falling in the outrun after he landed at 129.5 meters in the first round. The hill record holder got up quickly, but TV footage showed that the 25-year-old had blood on his face.
- He is feeling the impact there, but I think everything is alright with his knees and ankles, said Viaplay expert Andreas Stjernen.
The strong-form Sundal struggled in the qualifying round for Saturday's event with his 15th place finish.
- I don’t know exactly what that was about. It just became very lifeless. I might need to wake up a bit, Sundal mentioned to Viaplay ahead of the first round.
Paschke has been dominant so far this winter, winning four out of seven contests.
Granerud and Sundal represented Norway, finishing third in the team competition on Friday, behind Austria and a strong German team.
Granerud won the World Cup and the Four Hills Tournament in the 2022/2023 season, but the 28-year-old struggled last winter, finishing 24th overall in the World Cup.
