Sudden twist during the jumping competition. It had to end this way. Three Poles were affected

A true lottery in Vikersund! Although it was initially suspected that the Sunday competition would not take place, the organizers were able to conduct one round. Unfortunately, very challenging conditions at the start prevented long jumps. Consequently, three Poles jumped very shortly and had no chance of finishing in the top thirty.

However, the favorites delivered, rewarding the fans' long wait with magnificent flights. Domen Prevc made a remarkable appearance but could not secure the victory in the Raw Air series.

Conditions were very rough for a long time, leading the organizers, fans, and even the jumpers to suspect that Sunday’s competitions might not happen. Initially, the women’s individual competition was called off, meaning Nika Prevc triumphed in the Raw Air series.

Fatal jumps by Kubacki and Kot

As a result of such decisions by the judges and rather pessimistic forecasts for the afternoon, fans began to fear whether the men’s competition would go ahead. The initial plan was to conduct a prologue followed by three competition series. The top thirty jumpers were supposed to advance to the second, final round. Unfortunately, this concept needed to be changed quickly.

After 3:00 PM, the prologue for Sunday’s competition commenced. However, it was frequently interrupted, and unfortunately, after the jumps of 12 competitors, the jury decided to cancel the qualifications. As a result, the competition format needed to change; 53 competitors were originally scheduled for the first series, but only the best thirty would be allowed to jump again in the concluding round.

The start of the competition was initially set for 4:35 PM, but after rapid shifts, it was moved to 5:00 PM. Ultimately, the contest began at 5:15 PM. Initially, however, the competition was hardly what spectators could expect from a mammoth hill. The participants landed quickly; some did not reach even a hundred meters.

As time progressed, the conditions began to improve slightly, but this did not grant our two foremost representatives the chance for good flights. Maciej Kot jumped 123.5 meters after a rather unsettled flight, while Dawid Kubacki logged 142.5 meters, confirming that they would not be in the second round.

Jakub Wolny also struggled, clocking a mere 177 meters. Kamil Stoch fared better, being the first among our competitors to cross the 200-meter mark (201 m). Shortly afterward, it was announced that the second series was canceled, meaning competitors would only perform once this Sunday.

The distances jumped by competitors were increasingly impressive; nevertheless, neither Paweł Wąsek nor Aleksander Zniszczoł could achieve extraordinary distances. They landed at 209.5 and 203 meters respectively, performances that, while not bad, hardly promised high placements.

In the end, a thrilling battle for the victory in the competition—and the entire Raw Air series—unfolded. Ultimately, Domen Prevc won on Sunday with an impressive 247-meter flight, outpacing Andreas Wellinger and Ryoyu Kobayashi on the podium. However, it was the German who won the Norwegian tournament, becoming the first representative of his country to achieve such a success.

Final Polish standings:
- 12th: Paweł Wąsek - 209.5 m
- 18th: Aleksander Zniszczoł - 203 m
- 19th: Kamil Stoch - 201 m
- 31st: Jakub Wolny - 177 m
- 44th: Dawid Kubacki - 142.5 m
- 47th: Maciej Kot - 123.5 m
