Organizers and competitors faced unexpected problems during the second training session in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The elevator failure caused a change in the starting order, and the series was significantly prolonged. "The breaks are so long that between jumps, organizers are working on the state of the landing area. A New Year’s dud," writes Dominik Formela from Skijumping.pl. One of the Polish jumpers also had issues.

After the competition in Oberstdorf, Stefan Kraft became the leader of the Four Hills Tournament. Moreover, the Austrian dominance continues, raising increasing concerns for German fans regarding Pius Paschke's pursuit of a historic triumph after many years of waiting. At the same time at Ga-Pa, the organizers faced serious challenges due to a significant elevator failure.

The elevator problems created some jokes regarding the German-Austrian rivalry. "Smart. The Germans are doing everything to stop Kraft. They even trapped him in the elevator before the second training session," joked Damian Michałowski. "Kraft is even smarter. He avoided the elevator and didn’t get trapped. He outsmarted the Germans! What a form on the hill and off it," the TVN journalist commented shortly after.

"Ga-Pa usually starts the year with a hangover, but today it seems like it even ends that way. First, a broken elevator, now the competitors' outings during training. Well, guys, that's not how we build Rome," emphasizes Michał Chmielewski from TVP Sport.

"If the elevator doesn't start, then the competitors will have to walk up the hill like in the old days," writes Dominik Formela and reports on the situation at the hill. "The breaks are so long that the organizers are working on the state of the landing area between jumps. A New Year’s dud," we read.

Ultimately, the second training was successfully completed despite temporary delays. The best performer was Jan Hoerl, surpassing Johann Andre Forfang and Gregor Deschwanden. The best among Poles was Aleksander Zniszczoł (10th). Dawid Kubacki faced challenges because a competitor with a later start number preceded him. Ultimately, the Pole jumped 119.5 meters and ranked a distant 50th.
