Severe Storm Disrupts Ski Jumping Events in Wisla

Last night, a powerful storm struck the Adam Malysz ski jump in Wisla, causing significant damage to the hill, specifically the counter slope. As a result, the four FIS Grand Prix events planned for the weekend of August 17-18—two for women and two for men—have been postponed indefinitely. Initial estimates suggest that organizers will need at least two weeks to complete the necessary repairs.

Despite this setback, the Wisla organizing committee is eager to reschedule the canceled Grand Prix for later this summer. The proposed new dates are set for the weekend of September 14-15, just prior to the second phase of the 2024 Grand Prix, which will take place in Rasnov, Romania.

An announcement regarding the confirmation of the new dates is expected soon.

Sandro Pertile, FIS Race Director, expressed his disappointment, stating, "It is, of course, frustrating and unfortunate to face such issues just before the planned Grand Prix events. However, these things happen, and we will collaborate closely to repair the damages. We look forward to rescheduling the competitions in Poland this September, which both fans and teams anticipate with excitement."
