Austrians dominated the first competition of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, and this has stirred unrest among their rivals. Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway openly commented, "If I were Gregor Deschwanden or Pius Paschke, I would probably be quite suspicious. It is strange and very unusual for one nation to dominate like this right now," in a talk with NRK. The voice of Austrian athlete Stefan Kraft was also heard.

After the competition in Oberstdorf, Austrians are leading in the overall TCS qualification with Stefan Kraft on top, having a 4.5 point lead over Jan Hoerl. Daniel Tschofenig also made it to the podium, which has led to considerable confusion among Norwegian media regarding the absolute dominance of the Austrians. However, the Austrians have nothing to hide, as confirmed by the statements of their leaders.

The back-and-forth between the Norwegians and Austrians has continued, with Tschofenig stating, "They can spy as much as they want. We don't have much to hide. And if we do, we are clever enough. I think we don’t have any secrets; we just do our thing."

Andreas Stjerna, a Viaplay expert, commented, "I think it’s spectacular, and then you quickly start to suspect they have something much better than their competitors."

Kraft concluded, stating that Austrian dominance will not last forever. "It will change. We just have to enjoy it. It's not typical, and it's not normal," he remarked to NRK. Also, Norwegian jumper Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal stated that the performance of the Austrians is "terribly suspect" and noted it was "quite annoying."
