Skisprung-Skandal: Norway Decides Against Closure

The Norwegian Ski Association has made a decision regarding how to proceed in the wake of the controversies stemming from the recent suit scandal in the World Cup. Following discussions regarding a possible complete withdrawal of the Norwegian ski jumping team from competition, it has now been confirmed that a team has been named for upcoming competitions in Lahti.

In response to the discussions that arose over the weekend about possibly ending the season early, Jan-Erik Aalbu, Norway's sports director, stated that they decided to send a men's team to Lahti after good conversations with the athletes. Last weekend, a young team was able to gain experience at the highest international level, and it is clear that they are eager for more.

Aalbu announced in an official statement from Norges Skiforbund, “We have decided to send a men's team to Lahti as per the athletes' wishes. The team demonstrated solid performances at the recent event in Vikersund, and they will be rewarded for this with their World Cup debut.”

The Norwegian Ski Federation's discussions emerged in light of the ongoing suit scandal involving the Norwegian team at the Nordic Ski World Championships. The FIS had already provisionally suspended top jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang as a result of the accusations.
