In the Ski Jumping World Cup event held in Zakopane, Daniel Tschofenig showcased a remarkable comeback, finishing with jumps of 136.0 and 139.5 meters, which secured him first place. After initially trailing behind Anze Lanisek from Slovenia, who had jumps of 145.0 and 136.0 meters, Tschofenig managed to surpass him during the second round, pushing Lanisek down to fourth place. The podium was completed by Johann Andre Forfang, taking second, and Jan Hörl in third.

Meanwhile, the performance of the German team was underwhelming, with Karl Geiger finishing in eighth place and Andreas Wellinger coming in eleventh. The notable disappointment was Pius Paschke, who was ranked third overall in the World Cup standings but did not make it past the first round in this event, finishing 32nd with a jump of only 123.5 meters.

Paschke expressed his frustration about his performance, stating it was tough not to qualify for the finals for the first time in nearly a year, calling it "hard to understand." Despite earlier thoughts of improving his jumps, he admitted none of them met his expectations.

Looking ahead, the competition will move to Oberstdorf for ski flying, where Geiger hopes to thrive, citing a feeling of good flight performance in the past. The overall atmosphere remains optimistic as athletes aim to improve and regain form ahead of the upcoming events.
