Agnes Reisch finished fifth at the Women's Ski Jumping World Cup in Willingen, making her the best performing German in the event, although the victory went to Norwegian Eirin Kvandal. After taking the early lead following the first round – despite having to wait almost ten minutes before her jump – Reisch maintained her composure and delivered a strong performance with a jump of 125.5 meters. “My first jump was extremely good, and the atmosphere was amazing. I could feel the stadium vibrating,” she said in a post-competition interview on Sportschau.
In the second round, Reisch repeated her convincing performance. However, the competition was fierce as several athletes posted impressive jumps throughout the day. Selina Freitag, who had lagged behind expectations in the first round, improved significantly on her second attempt, finishing eighth. This performance allowed Nika Prevc to further extend her lead in the overall World Cup standings.
Katharina Schmid, on the other hand, was visibly disappointed right after her first round jump. The Oberstdorfer struggled with tension and ended up in the middle of the pack. Even though she showed a better performance in her second effort, it was only enough for an eleventh-place finish. Meanwhile, Juliane Seyfarth finished 15th and Emely Torazza, a 20-year-old from Oberstdorf, celebrated her breakthrough by collecting her first World Cup points, ending the day in 19th place.
Looking ahead, the next World Cup event is scheduled to take place in Lake Placid. Reisch, still waiting for her first podium finish in her career, remains determined. “I just want to ski jump and have fun – not overthink it. When I do that, good results come along, and maybe even a podium,” she said. Teammates Selina Freitag and Katharina Schmid, along with the entire group who train together over the summer, shared their excitement and support for her performance.
