Ski Jumping: Announcement: The Suspension of the Scandal Jumpers Lifted
Updated April 1, 2025
The five Norwegian ski jumpers who were suspended following a scandal at the World Championships can now have their temporary suspensions lifted.
Marius Lindvik, Johann Andre Forfang, Robin Pedersen, Kristoffer Sundal, and Robert Johansson can now participate in training and activities organized by the Norwegian Ski Federation or other ski federations with immediate effect.
"The temporary suspensions of the athletes were necessary to ensure the integrity of the competition. This requirement no longer applies after the end of the year's season," stated the International Ski Federation (FIS) in a press release.
However, the temporary suspensions for three Norwegian coaches, Magnus Brevig, and equipment managers Adrian Livelten and Thomas Lobben, who were involved in the scandal, remain in effect.
It was the suits of Lindvik and Forfang that did not pass the equipment check at the World Championships. FIS also suspects that Sundal's, Pedersen's, and Johansson's suits may have been manipulated during the championships in Norway.
Expert on the World Championship Scandal
A secretly recorded video allegedly showed how the athletes cheated with their competition suits. Subsequently, the jumpers were disqualified, and the Norwegian team later admitted in an emergency press conference that they had manipulated the suits.
FIS's investigation into the alleged World Championship cheating continues, where the seized suits will undergo a new technical examination. They also reserve the right to take further investigative measures.
The Norwegian Ski Federation stated in a press release that they have received the decision.
"Difficult to determine what happens next"
The investigation progresses as planned with interviews of those involved and collection of materials.
"What will happen next will only be known when there is a conclusion from the investigation work. When this will occur is difficult to determine, but hopefully, it will be available before the summer," said the Norwegian Federation's lawyer Thomas Skjelbred in the press release.
