The women's ski jumping individual event in Zao, located in Japan’s Yamagata Prefecture, took place on January 26, 2025. Austrian Jacqueline Seifriedsberger emerged victorious by posting jumps of 99.0 and 94.5 meters, thereby setting a high benchmark for the competition.
The German team did not reach their usual standards. Both Selina Freitag and Katharina Schmid were adversely affected when the start gate was lowered two steps just before their jumps following Seifriedsberger’s strong performance. As a result, Freitag and Schmid managed only 91.5 and 88.0 meters respectively in the first round, landing them in sixth and eighth positions in the interim scoring. In the second round, Schmid’s jump was hampered by strong tailwind, leaving her at 83.0 meters, while Freitag managed to improve slightly, finishing eighth overall.
Only five of the six German jumpers advanced to the second round. Juliane Seyfarth and Alvine Holz also collected valuable World Cup points by finishing 17th and 20th respectively. Meanwhile, Anna Hollandt missed out on qualification, managing only 77 meters.
