Ski Jumping: Season End for Olympic Champion Huber

Daniel Huber has undergone knee surgery and will miss the entire ski jumping season.

The team Olympic champion Daniel Huber has been ruled out for the entire ski jumping winter. The Austrian, who won the season finale in Planica last March, needed to have surgery on his right knee, as announced by the Austrian Ski Association on Saturday.

"Unfortunately, this means around six months of jumping pause, and thus the end of the season for Daniel. This is, of course, very bitter, but Daniel is looking forward positively," said Florian Liegl, the Sporting Director of Nordic Skiing at the ÖSV.

Huber Complained of Pain in Lillehammer

The 31-year-old Huber had complained of pain after the first training session of the World Cup opener in Lillehammer. The discomfort stemmed from a previously known cartilage fracture in the knee joint.
