Ski Jumping: After the Suit Scandal – FIS Launches Investigation
Following the disqualification of two Norwegian athletes during the Ski Jumping World Championships for manipulating their suits, the International Ski Federation (FIS) has decided to launch an investigation into the matter.
This announcement by the FIS confirms the ethical committee's responsibility for overseeing the investigation. Ivar Stuan, the coach of the Norwegian combination team, expressed that it is positive that an investigation is underway, stating that they should assess what transpired, which he has no objection to.
The Norwegian team has consistently rejected any claims of cheating. After competing in the large hill, the disqualified athletes faced accusations, and videos surfaced showing the alleged cheating, prompting several other nations to submit protests. Additionally, another Norwegian athlete was disqualified for using illegal bindings.
A press conference by the Norwegian skiing federation is scheduled for later this afternoon to address the scandal, starting at 15:30.
