Despite challenging conditions that led to the cancellation of the second round of the women's ski jumping event at the Nordic Ski World Championships in Trondheim, Selina Freitag achieved a remarkable feat by claiming a silver medal. The competition was paused after only five jumpers had completed their attempts in the final, prompting the jury to make the decision to cancel further jumps due to persistent high winds.

Freitag had landed at an impressive distance of 131 meters, which placed her just behind the leading jumper, Nika Prevc, who made a jump of 134.5 meters. "It’s great to end the World Championships like this," Freitag expressed in an interview, highlighting her accomplishment during such unexpected circumstances. This is Freitag's second medal in the World Championships, having previously secured silver on the normal hill.

The Norwegian team also performed strongly, with Eirin Maria Kvandal finishing in bronze position, showcasing the depth of talent at this year's championships. The decision to halt the competition was deemed necessary by Germany's head coach Heinz Kuttin as safety was paramount given the inconsistent wind conditions.

For Freitag, this moment marks a significant achievement, emphasizing her strength and resilience in the sport. As she continues her journey in ski jumping, further possibilities for medals loom in future competitions, especially with her current form at such prestigious events.
