Norwegian ski jumper Daniel-André Tande has decided to retire from the sport, citing overwhelming fears stemming from a severe accident he experienced during a jump in Planica, Slovenia, back in 2021. Tande expressed his sentiments, saying, "After the awful fall in Planica over three years ago, I have realized that the fear of launching myself off the jump is perhaps greater than I initially thought. Therefore, it feels right to end my jumping career."

The traumatic incident resulted in a broken collarbone and placed him in an induced coma; fortunately, he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. Defying the odds, Tande made an impressive comeback to competition just eight months later, achieving notable success including a standout victory at Holmenkollen in 2022.

Throughout his career, Tande has celebrated several remarkable accomplishments, including winning a world championship gold medal in ski flying in 2018 and securing gold in team events in 2016, 2018, and 2020. Moreover, he earned an Olympic gold medal during the 2018 Games as part of the team event.

Reflecting on his ski jumping journey, Tande shared, "I have fulfilled many dreams in my career."
