Piotr Żyła has made a stunning return to the World Cup competition in Engelberg after being absent from the Kuusamo event. His jump of 133 meters placed him in the 11th position, despite not managing to land his jump successfully.
The first training session took place on Friday at 15:15. Żyła was the first of the Polish team to launch, holding the top spot for a considerable time until overtaken by Johann Andre Forfang.
"I was in shock; that's why I fell for so long. Everything's fine with my legs, but I hit my hand on my forehead and will have a bump," Żyła explained after his fall.
His teammate Aleksander Zniszczoł performed well too, achieving a jump of 130 meters, landing him in 13th place. Kamil Stoch landed at 124 meters, finishing in 31st position.
Overall, the training session saw Gregor Deschwanden take the top spot with a jump of 134 meters, followed by Daniel Tschofenig and Anze Lanisek.
