FIS Update: Lindvik Claims Back-to-Back Victories in Wisla
After an impressive performance at the Grand Prix in Wisla, Poland, on Saturday, Marius Lindvik from Norway continued his winning streak, capturing his second title in just 24 hours on the Adam Malysz ski jump on Sunday.
Competing under clear blue skies, Lindvik once again showcased his dominance, finishing ahead of Estonia's Artti Aigro. However, it was the 19-year-old American, Tate Frantz, who stole the show by securing a surprising third place finish.
With a commanding 10-point advantage over Aigro, Lindvik reinforced his outstanding form during the second day of competition in Wisla. "Today was truly a fantastic day. The entire weekend was great; my form is strong, and the whole team is in top shape," expressed Lindvik, who is also the Olympic champion from the 2022 Beijing Games.
With this victory, Lindvik has racked up a total of 200 points in the overall Grand Prix standings, placing him level with Austria's Stefan Kraft, who also has 200 points.
Aigro, who finished in second place, celebrated his second podium finish within a remarkable 24-hour period. "I enjoy competing on the hill in Wisla; I'm able to execute really good jumps here. I hope to stand on the top step of the podium one day. However, when Marius jumps like he did both yesterday and today, it's incredibly challenging to beat him," Aigro stated.
Tate Frantz achieved the best result of his burgeoning career by finishing third. "I'm thrilled with my result and my jumps. I'm in good shape and I plan to work hard to improve even further this winter," he said.
Notably, despite the podium finishers representing three different nations, they all train together as part of an international training team led by Team Norway.
"It's fantastic to see nearly the entire team in the top six," commented a pleased Aigro. Following the top three, Norwegians Johann Andre Forfang, Halvor Egner Granerud, and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal also finished strong, rounding out the top six. This showcases an exceptional performance by the collaborative training group from Norway, Estonia, and the USA.
Poland's Pawel Wasek was the highest-placed competitor from the home team, finishing in seventh place. Italy's Alex Insam also performed admirably, coming in eighth, while Switzerland's Gregor Deschawanden, who had finished third on Saturday, concluded the day in ninth.
Notably, no German ski jumpers participated in the event.
The Ski Jumping Grand Prix resumes next weekend in Rasnov, Romania, with two competitions planned for both women and men.
