In a disappointing turn of events for the ÖSV ski jumping team, Daniel Huber's season is officially over. The Salzburg athlete complained of knee pain during training on Wednesday, and subsequent MRI results revealed a cartilage fracture.

Huber is set to undergo surgery on the affected cartilage and his lateral ligament in the coming days, as confirmed by the Austrian Ski Association. The reigning Ski Flying World Cup champion has experienced repeated issues with his right knee in recent years, and this latest procedure signifies an early end to his season.

"The decision for surgery was made in consultation with the athlete. Unfortunately, this means about a six-month break from jumping, marking the end of the season for Daniel. This is, of course, very unfortunate, but Daniel is already looking optimistically and positively towards the future. He has often demonstrated that resilience is not a foreign concept for him, and he has always returned stronger. We will support Daniel on his journey and wish him the best for his surgery and recovery phase," said Florian Liegl, the sporting director of the Nordic Skiing department of ÖSV.
