Scandal in Zakopane! The Polish team can't train. There is a reaction

Bad news for Polish ski jumpers. Their training plans have been disrupted due to unprepared jumps in Zakopane. "It's a shame and a disgrace that it is possible to ski on slopes and train on tracks, but when it comes to preparing the jumps needed by the best jumpers in the country, it's impossible. It sounds like a joke," thunders Maciej Maciusiak, the assistant coach of the national A team, to Sport.pl. "I want to emphasize that the weather conditions have not been favorable for several days," defends the Central Sports Center.

Although the World Cup will arrive in Zakopane only on the weekend of January 18-19, the jump is needed for daily training. Recently, youth competitions occurred at the complex, where only small facilities up to 70 meters were available for competitors. Even worse news is provided by Sport.pl. The Polish representatives were supposed to train in Zakopane.

The plan was to access the Wielka Krokiew on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. We had an agreement. However, in the evening, a response from the Central Sports Center arrived at the association saying it would not be possible to prepare it. For me, this is nonsense. We are furious about the conditions we encountered here. "It's a shame and a disgrace that it's possible to ski on slopes and train on tracks, but impossible to prepare the jumps when needed by the best jumpers in the country. It sounds like a joke," adds Maciej Maciusiak to Sport.pl. "We had to plan training in Wisła on Wednesday. We traveled there and are staying here, but this takes away the sense of recovery between World Cup competitions," he explains.

Earlier, Kamil Stoch had spoken about the necessity of additional training, while Dawid Kubacki will not go to Engelberg to search for form.

"I do not understand why the jumps could not be prepared in Zakopane. The situation is such that you can only jump a maximum of 70 meters on the HS70 facility at the Średnia Krokiew complex. The average and big Krokiew stand unprepared. Yet everything around, despite the weather, is ready: tracks for commercial use are functioning, and people are skiing on the slopes. Why, therefore, could the jumps not be prepared when they are needed for athletes from Podhale?" he adds.

After the publication of the text, the director of the Central Sports Center in Zakopane responded. He tries to explain the reasons for this situation. "I want to emphasize that weather conditions for several days have not been favorable—positive temperatures, sunshine, and falling rain have made it impossible to prepare the Wielka Krokiew and the largest HS-105 jump at the Średnia Krokiew. These works are currently underway," explained Sebastian Danikiewicz to Sport.pl.
