Scandal at the Ski Jumping World Championships: Norwegians report on 'new rumors from Poland' - Przegląd Sportowy Onet
Norwegians are paying close attention to our media following a scandal that has shaken ski jumping. They are now writing about "new rumors from Poland" after the scandal at Saturday's World Championship competition in Trondheim. Local media cite Grzegorz Sobczyk, who stated on TVP Sport that the jumpers could have been unaware of the illegal suits only 15% of the time. But that's not all.

Jan-Erik Aalbu, head of ski jumping for the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF), confirmed at a Sunday press conference in Trondheim that his coaching staff cheated. He took responsibility for it.
He emphasized that according to the information he received, during the World Championships in cross-country skiing, the suits were improperly modified only before the Saturday competition on the large hill and were used only by Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang. Robert Johansson and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal were wearing different suits. Now, "Dagbladet" cites TVP Sport.
The Norwegians should have known about the suits.
"Johann Andre Forfang and Marius Lindvik claim they didn’t know about manipulated suits. – They must have felt something – says the Polish expert," the Norwegians write, referring to comments made by Grzegorz Sobczyk on TVP Sport.
"– Athletes usually participate in the adaptation process. Furthermore, the rules state that athletes are ultimately responsible for their equipment. If they had something adapted, they would feel it – says Grzegorz Sobczyk, as quoted by the Norwegians. They also add that the chances that the Norwegian jumpers were unaware of the illegal suits stand at 15%.
Norwegian ski jumping head Jan-Erik Aalbu admitted that Magnus Brevig, the team coach, lied to him, denying the fraud that led to three disqualifications and the stripping of the silver medal from Marius Lindvik. However, he could not say what consequences would be drawn for anyone by the Norwegian federation.
Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang spoke out following the scandal at the Ski Jumping World Championships, releasing only a brief press statement.
"We apologize for not having the courage to talk to the media after what happened yesterday. We are both completely devastated. Neither of us would have jumped in a suit that we knew was incorrect. Never. The trust in the support system was high, and they always worked hard to develop competitive gear," the statement quoted by Nettavisen reads.
Norwegian "Dagbladet" also contacted coach Magnus Brevig. "I am deeply sorry for what happened. I would like to speak to the media, but I prefer to wait until tomorrow, after I talk to my employer," the man responded, then announced that he would release a statement on Monday.
