Ruka Ski Jumping - Super-Adler Kraft Only Beaten by Wellinger!
Originally published in Krone on December 01, 2024
In Ruka, the Austrian ski jumpers faced a repeat defeat against the Germans in the ongoing battle for victory! However, this time it was close, as Stefan Kraft only managed to finish behind Andreas Wellinger in a competition affected by difficult weather conditions, which led to the event being assessed from a single round.
Daniel Tschofenig came fourth behind Karl Geiger, while the Germans have now accrued three wins out of four season competitions, with the Austrian team only managing one victory through Jan Hörl, but leading the podium standings with seven podium spots to date.
Difficult conditions including changing winds and drizzle made it challenging for the competitors. Previously victorious Pius Paschke (7th) and Hörl (20th) didn't make it to the podium this time around, with Maximilian Ortner placing as the next best Austrian at 16th.
Kraft, who had previously secured a third-place finish behind Paschke and Hörl, came in at a distance of 145 meters, just slightly trailing Wellinger (146.5 m). "I gladly take the second place, I am very satisfied with it. Stopping the competition was the most sensible decision," said Kraft. Tschofenig's performance of 140 meters fell short of Geiger's jumps at 136.5 meters.
