A Revolutionary Change in Ski Jumping Rules for the Upcoming Season

According to Sandro Pertile, the director of the World Cup, starting from the first competitions of the upcoming Ski Jumping World Cup, athletes will not be allowed to change suits between rounds. This practice used to help some jumpers gain an additional advantage, as seen with Polish skier Dawid Kubacki.

Suits have played a crucial role in ski jumping for many years, with teams continuously seeking innovations to give their athletes a competitive edge. In previous years, teams prepared dozens of suits for one season.

However, these regulations signify a major shift in the sport. The FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski) is introducing a limit on the number of suits each competitor can possess, which will be tracked using a special chip. This measure is intended to prevent any regulatory breaches and significantly reduce the number of suits that teams need to invest in. Athletes will be limited to using only four suits during the first part of the World Cup Season, with the ability to add one additional suit later in the season.

Dawid Kubacki expressed concerns about the impact of these changes on Polish teams, stating that it would require careful tactical planning and organization. The first competition of this new season will take place on November 22 in Lillehammer.
