Wind interrupted the qualification rounds in Vikersund! After the jumps of 12 competitors, judges halted the ongoing competitions and decided that today’s Raw Air cycle would conclude with two standard series. The first series will feature 53 competitors, with 30 advancing to the final.

Saturday’s competition was won by Andreas Wellinger, who jumped 229.5 meters in the second series, giving him victory and 221.3 points in the Raw Air standings. Wellinger took the lead in the cycle, overtaking Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi by 15.9 points. The third place, with a deficit of 31.6 points before Sunday’s prologue, was Slovenia’s Domen Prevc. Among the Polish competitors, Aleksander Zniszczoł placed the highest at 12th.

The Sunday prologue, intended to determine 30 participants for a special three-series contest, unfortunately dragged on due to strong wind gusts, prompting the judges to call off the qualifications.

The prologue began with a brief jump from Daniil Vasiliev, representing Kazakhstan, who achieved only 98 meters. After him, Turkish athlete Fatih Arda Ipcioglu also fell short, reaching only 103.5 meters. Following these two attempts, the judges called for a several-minute break to await improved conditions.

After the break, Swiss competitor Felix Trunz had a successful jump of 192.5 meters, taking the lead among the first 12 competitors. However, after 12 attempts, the judges annulled the qualifications due to strong winds. The Raw Air will conclude with two standard series, with the first set to start at 16:35.

From the perspective of the organizers, it was necessary to salvage what could still be saved, commented Igor Błachut during the Europsport broadcast.
