Promising Polish Ski Jumper Faces Career Challenges
Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy on December 11, 2024
Jan Habdas was considered a significant talent in Polish ski jumping, having won the FIS Schueler Grand Prix six years ago, an unofficial world championship for youth. However, he is now experiencing a difficult period in his career, displaying a noticeable decline in performance compared to his previous successes in 2022 and 2023.
Daniel Kwiatkowski, who works with the junior ski jumping team, stated, "As for Jan Habdas, he is, unfortunately, completely off form. He is currently going through a tough time, and it is hard for me to say much more about him as I haven't seen him in many training sessions lately. He is struggling with his approach position and cannot get properly oriented on the takeoff. When he manages to approach comfortably, his jump is better, but if something goes wrong, it is all over for that jump. He probably needs some peace right now to work on certain elements of his technique during training, without pressure and anxiety."
Jan Habdas, who was seen as a future star, now needs time and support to regain his confidence and skills as he navigates through this challenging phase in his athletic journey.
