Preparations are set to begin this week for snowmaking at the Adam Małysz venue in Wisła Malinka, where individual World Cup ski jumping competitions will take place on December 7 and 8.
Andrzej Wąsowicz, the Chairman of the World Cup Organizing Committee, has vowed everything will be done to avoid a hybrid format. Initially, appropriate networks to support the snow will be installed, and then, if weather conditions allow, snow cannons will be operated.
“I hope we can start them on Thursday,” Wąsowicz stated. Forecasts for the weather in Wisła are favorable, with daytime temperatures expected to be around 0 degrees Celsius.
Tickets for both the Saturday and Sunday events have been limited to a maximum of 6,500 sales.
Many Attractions for Fans
Qualifications for the first of two competitions in Wisła will occur on December 6, St. Nicholas Day. Therefore, at the end of the Friday event at the hill, a traditional number handing ceremony will take place at Hoff's Square, featuring many surprises for children and their families. As announced on the official event website, a so-called Academy of Aviators will operate in the same location, with gadgets prepared for children attending the event.
Last season, the World Cup ski jumping event in Wisła kicked off the Polish Tournament, which included subsequent competitions in Szczyrk and Zakopane. This season, there will be no such competition; the World Cup events in Poland will occur only at the Adam Małysz venue and the Wielka Krokiew in Zakopane.
In January 2024, the first day of the competition in Wisła Malinka featured a duo competition where Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła finished sixth. The individual competition saw Piotr Żyła as the best Pole in 14th place, with Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi winning, followed by Austria's Stefan Kraft and Germany's Andreas Wellinger.
The upcoming World Cup cycle will open with events at the Olympic hill in Lillehammer, Norway, from November 22-24.
