Polish Ski Jumping Team Selection for Next World Cup Confirmed

The Polish Ski Association has announced which Polish ski jumpers will be representing the country at the upcoming World Cup event in Lake Placid. It has been confirmed that the same quintet that competed in Willingen will take part in the next competition: Dawid Kubacki, Paweł Wąsek, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Piotr Żyła, and Jakub Wolny.
In Willingen, the team did not perform as strongly as hoped; Kubacki managed 14th place while Wąsek finished a few positions higher, and the others were placed lower (with Wolny in 26th and Żyła in 28th). In the individual competitions on Sunday, only Kubacki and Wąsek advanced to the second round, with Wąsek showing promise by being in 8th at mid-competition, albeit eventually finishing 17th and Kubacki 22nd.
Despite these unsatisfactory results, coach Thomas Thurnbichler has opted not to make any changes to the squad. The team will head to Lake Placid where qualifications will begin on Friday, followed by an individual contest and mixed events on Saturday, and another individual race on Sunday.
This decision highlights the coach’s trust in his athletes and his belief that they can improve in the upcoming competitions despite the recent setbacks.
