Police Chief Favorite for the Four Hills Tournament: Awaiting This for 23 Years

The Four Hills Tournament, a prestigious ski jumping competition, is poised to begin, with Pius Paschke, a police chief, being one of the main contenders after an outstanding performance this winter. The tournament could bring the first German victory in over 20 years, as Paschke has showcased remarkable skill, winning five World Cup events this season.

After a disappointing recent performance in Engelberg, where he finished in 10th and 18th place, Paschke remains confident, bolstered by the support of fellow competitors and their acknowledgment of his abilities. Fellow German jumper Andreas Wellinger expressed his faith in Paschke's talent and composure heading into the tournament.

The 73rd edition of the tournament starts Sunday, featuring competitions in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck, and Bischofshofen. The victor will receive a golden eagle trophy and a prize of 100,000 Swiss francs (around 450,000 PLN).

Other prominent contenders in the tournament include Jan Hoerl, Daniel Tschofenig, and Andreas Wellinger, each with their own reasons for pursuit of the title. Hoerl, after a stellar performance in Engelberg, aims for the win, stressing the thrill of competition. Meanwhile, Tschofenig and Wellinger both seek to improve upon last season's results.

The challenge ahead is significant but as outlined by Paschke: "I know I can do it, and I look forward to this competition."

As excitement builds, the Four Hills Tournament sets the stage for thrilling showdowns among ski jumping's elite.
