Incredible news! Paweł Wąsek is leading the Summer Grand Prix in ski jumping after capitalizing on the misstep of Alex Insam, who faltered in his jump during the Saturday competition in Hinzenbach, Austria. With only two competitions left in the series, Wąsek now must keep an eye on his competitors behind him.

In the qualifiers for Saturday’s competition, the best-performing Polish athlete was Dawid Kubacki, who jumped 88 meters, finishing in fifth place, matching his position in the preceding training session. Jakub Wolny was close behind in ninth place but Wąsek, despite being the LGP leader, only managed to place 21st with a jump of 82.5 meters. Surprisingly, the first series turned in Wąsek’s favor as his main rival faltered.

As the penultimate athlete in the first round, Wąsek managed a jump of 86 meters and was ranked just behind Kubacki, securing 11th place at the end. Conversely, Alex Insam, who had a crucial lead of 10 points over Wąsek in the general classification, could only manage a disappointing 74.5 meters.

Now, Wąsek stands five points ahead of Insam in the overall standings with 33 points over third-placed Stefan Kraft. Jakub Wolny sits sixth in the ranking, while Kubacki ranks 12th.

As the Summer Grand Prix advances into its critical phase, the entry list saw a host of top competitors appearing in Hinzenbach, with only competitions left in Austria and Germany's Klingenthal.
