Piotr Żyła will defend his title at the normal hill in Trondheim on Sunday. Although anything is possible in sports, a victory for the experienced jumper seems like a stretch, especially since he was the weakest Polish performer in Saturday's qualifications, finishing in 37th place. After the qualifiers, he discussed his performance and the upcoming competition on Eurosport with his characteristic optimism.

"There isn’t much to evaluate," he said with a smile. "Yesterday, the jumps were a bit better, but today something isn’t quite right again. What can I do? There’s still the night ahead of us," he remarked. "No need to analyze it too much. I need to discuss with the coaches, and then maybe I’ll know something," added Żyła.

In the qualifications, Żyła managed a jump of 94.5 meters. The best among the Polish contingent was Paweł Wąsek, finishing in 17th place with a jump of 98.5 meters, followed by Aleksander Zniszczoł in 21st, Dawid Kubacki in 22nd, and Jakub Wolny in 34th.

The competition on the normal hill will take place at 16:00 with a trial series, followed by the first competition series at 17:00 in Trondheim. Live commentary can be followed via Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
