Piotr Żyła reviews Polish ski jumpers' performance: "There was a lack"

"They are definitely capable of more," says Piotr Żyła regarding the performance of Polish ski jumpers in Lillehammer. In a guest appearance on the "Trzecia Seria" program on TVP Sport's YouTube channel, the jumper, who is set to return to competition during the December World Cup events in Wisła, shared optimistic updates about his condition.

"Surely, they can achieve more. In the qualifications and in mixed competitions, Paweł Wąsek was really good, but in contests, they didn’t quite deliver in their jumps. There can be many reasons, but I believe that they are in better form than their results show. Today, they were missing something," summarized Piotr Żyła on the performance of Polish ski jumpers.

Other Highlights

Both on Saturday and Sunday, the best among the White-Reds was Paweł Wąsek, who finished the weekend in 14th and 23rd place. Our team earned a total of 98 points, putting them in sixth place in the Nations Cup standings.

Piotr Żyła: when I returned, things weren't as I had expected

Piotr Żyła will have to wait for his first performances of the season until the competitions in Wisła, scheduled for the first weekend of December. Recall that during the summer, the world champion underwent surgery, which forced him to take an extended break during the preparation period. However, he assured that his current form looks better than it did during the Polish Championships when fans last saw him.

"It is certainly much better because I’ve assembled my equipment. When I returned, it wasn’t as I had expected; it didn’t click with my technique, and I felt a pull in my fingers on the take-off. Afterwards, it became quite enjoyable," he mentioned.

Next week, Żyła will head to a training camp in Eisenerz with Maciej Kot, Kacper Juroszek, and members of the B team.
