Exciting Updates on the Summer Grand Prix in Wisła: Piotr Żyła Out but Hope Remains

The Summer Grand Prix in ski jumping is set to take place in Wisła on September 14-15, featuring a formidable lineup of eight Polish jumpers, including the renowned Kamil Stoch. However, there’s a notable absence as Piotr Żyła will not be competing due to a knee injury, as confirmed by the Polish Ski Association (PZN) on Saturday.
Joining Stoch will be fellow athletes: Dawid Kubacki, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Jakub Wolny, Paweł Wąsek, Kacper Juroszek, Maciej Kot, and Adam Niżnik. Unfortunately, Żyła is still in recovery from knee surgery, which has kept him out of competition for several weeks. The PZN assures fans that his injury isn’t severe, and the surgery he underwent will effectively prepare him for the upcoming winter competitions.
Originally, the event was slated for August 17-18, but heavy rains caused a landslide that rendered the slope unfit for jumping. The competitions have now been rescheduled for September 14-15, with qualification rounds taking place a day earlier on September 13. Notably, only the men’s events will occur this time due to a lack of sufficient women competitors.
This year's Summer Grand Prix features ten competitions in total: following the first two rounds held in Courchevel in August, the focus now shifts to Wisła, with upcoming events in Romania and Austria, before concluding with the final competition in Klingenthal, Germany on October 5-6.
