Piotr Żyła reveals his issue: "It's been a long time since I felt this way"

Piotr Żyła will return to compete with the top ski jumpers at the upcoming World Cup events in Zakopane. He is aware that he is not yet in optimal condition. In a conversation with Eurosport, he admitted that he still has problems with his weight, stating, "It's not all coming together as I would like at this moment."

After a knee injury, Żyła will participate in the next competition in Wiśla as part of the country quota. He might not be in proper shape yet, but he sees light at the end of the tunnel. "I have some jumps coming out nicely, but I'm lacking stability," he acknowledged in an interview with Eurosport.

Moreover, jumping is not the only issue Žyła currently faces. "I've had issues with my weight; it's dropped a bit. Maybe that’s why I don't have strength. I'm quite thin, so I probably need to eat something," added the jumper, underlining that he still feels the desire and motivation to jump.

"Honestly, I haven't been this skinny for a long time. I don't know what's causing it—perhaps muscle loss... Given it's winter, I should theoretically be lean. [...] I always struggled with losing those two kilos, and now there’s nothing left to lose. So what am I supposed to do?" he joked during the interview with Eurosport.

On Saturday and Sunday, Żyła will have the chance to fight for his first points of the season. However, he first has to get through the qualifications. The competition of jumpers in Wiśla will be broadcast live through Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
