Piotr Żyła was feeling great in Engelberg but ended his competition with a painful disqualification! This was due to a non-compliant ski suit, drawing attention from Eurosport commentators. It’s something you have to see.
Piotr Żyła had an impressive jump of 137 meters in the second series, placing him among the top competitors. However, his disqualification for the suit violation overshadowed his performance, an issue already noted by Eurosport commentators.
Michał Korościel pointed out before the jump, "Look at the 'beak' on Piotr's suit," which turned out to be prophetic. He was disqualified over the suit, although his coach and experts believe the situation is not so clear-cut.
As Jakub Kot explained on Eurosport, the waist circumference is a critical point and can vary throughout the day depending on hydration. A controller measures it in ways that might not be consistent, adding complexity to the situation.
Thomas Thurnbichler expressed his frustration, saying they check the suits daily without noticing issues. Yet, it was a good day for Żyła overall as he displays confidence in his jumps and landing technique.
